CYCLING/ WALKING TOUR

On the 7th May 2012 a group of students and teachers from Ciudad Jardín school went into the streets of Badajoz to take part in one of the activities planned for our Comenius project “ Hand in Hand for the environment protection”. We took our bikes or we went walking ( the ones who didn´t have a bike) to show our interest to protect environment in front of the citizens of Badajoz who were out at that time of the day. We also contacted the local press so that the dissemination of our activity would be bigger.

Our tour ended in a park near school were we recorded the video which you are going to watch and where we read  the manifesto which we have later translated into English and we recorded the video which is enclosed.

MANIFESTO IN FAVOUR OF ENVIRONMENT.

7^th May 2012, Cycling Tour

During this week, when the “ Day of Europe” is celebrated, when some countries are changing their ruling government, when the crisis will continue to wreak havoc, we feel environment, we are environment and we don´t want to shirk our responsibility for natural beauty, for life. That´s why we want to express:

1. We demand from  the consumer society we belong to a change of attitude to stop a few of us living with such a luxurious lifestyle at the expense of the planet's limited resources.

2. We ask the current governments of the rich industrialized countries to be honest with future generations and enable them to live healthy.

3. The need to wager definitely for recycling, reforestation and renewable energy.

4. We all have to respect and promote natural ecosystems, because they are the heritage of all species, not just ours.

5. We ask for pollution, global warming and deterioration of the ozone layer to be slowed down.

6. May each of us, families, education systems, NGOs and the media become aware of the magnitude of this problem.

7. We claim bins, containers and waste dumps to be properly used.

8. We finally ask for fires not to be started and for indiscriminate dump to cease so that all of us can again enjoy our woods and water.
